Biography

A contemporary sculptor, painter, and illustrator, Christine Gagné was born in Montréal. From childhood she has nurtured a natural affinity for the visual arts, where imagination, sensitivity, and gesture quickly found fertile ground.
Trained in fashion illustration, she began her career in the garment industry before moving to Los Angeles, where she lived for about ten years. That formative stay became rich soil for artistic exploration: alongside her professional work, she developed a personal practice in the visual arts.
As her journey unfolded, she became passionate about sculpture. She honed her craft with master artisans in the United States, Canada, and Europe, studying bronze casting, stone carving, jewelry techniques, and modeling.
In parallel with her visual-arts practice, she built a career in graphic design, applying her artistic skills to custom creative projects—an experience that deepened her understanding of imagery and visual language.

Artist’s Statement

Back in Québec, Christine Gagné pursues her artistic path with renewed commitment, enriched by the technical, aesthetic, and cultural discoveries she has made. Her work is figurative—both sensitive and assured—driven by expressive gesture and profound introspection. It is rooted in a meditation on the presence of women and their multiple cultural identities. Her female figures, sometimes mythical, sometimes popular, embody archetypes, symbols, or ambassadorial characters of eras and collective narratives.
Her body of work includes sculpture, painting, and a growing portfolio of digital illustration, which has naturally emerged over time as an extension of her creative process.
Whether working in bronze, stone, paint, or digital media, Christine Gagné is distinguished by the finesse of her execution, the richness of her textures, and the singularity of her patinas. Her sensitive, inhabited world has been exhibited in galleries and symposiums for many years, and her work has earned numerous awards in Canada, the United States, and Europe.
